Yoga on the Beach was born from a simple belief: the most powerful practice happens outdoors, with your feet in the sand and the horizon wide open.
In 2019, founder Maya Rosen held her first beach yoga session with twelve friends on HaYarkon Beach at dawn. Word spread quickly through Tel Aviv's wellness community — people were hungry for an alternative to crowded indoor studios.
What started as a weekly gathering grew into a full schedule of classes, retreats, and corporate wellness programs. Today, Yoga on the Beach serves over 300 regular students and welcomes travelers from around the world who want to experience Mediterranean mindfulness.
Our meeting point remains the same stretch of sand where it all began — steps from 14 HaYarkon Street, with the Tel Aviv promenade and the endless blue behind you.
Our mission
We exist to make yoga accessible, joyful, and deeply connected to the natural world — one breath, one wave, one sunrise at a time.
Indoor studios can feel confining. Walls block the breeze; fluorescent lights replace the sun. We believe yoga was never meant to be practiced in a box.
Our mission is to offer a practice space that honors both tradition and environment. We follow classical hatha and vinyasa lineages while adapting sequences for sand, wind, and changing light. Safety, inclusivity, and environmental stewardship guide every decision we make.
We also partner with local environmental groups to keep our stretch of beach clean, organizing monthly shoreline cleanups that students are welcome to join before class.
What we stand for
The beach demands your attention — the warmth of sand, the sound of waves, the shift of light. We teach students to anchor in sensory awareness rather than distraction.
All bodies, all levels, all backgrounds are welcome. We offer modifications for every pose and never assume prior experience. Yoga is for everyone who shows up.
We use biodegradable mats, reusable water stations, and zero single-use plastics. Our practice extends beyond the mat to protecting the coastline we love.
Students become friends. Regulars greet newcomers. Our post-class tea gatherings on the promenade are as much a part of the experience as the asanas themselves.
Our instructors train continuously and teach from authentic experience. We are transparent about pricing, policies, and what you can expect from every session.
Yoga does not have to be solemn. Laughter, playfulness, and wonder are encouraged. The beach reminds us that movement can be both disciplined and delightfully free.
